Subject: Ran out of gas? (longish read if you're bored on a Sat night.....)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

So I'm listening to some kind of wailing German opera on the FM, enjoying the errand drive on a sunny afternoon in my Westy, when I take the off ramp, stop at a light, start to pull away at the green, and my van just about completely stalls. "Pucka pucka pucka booodllllle". Luckily I make it out of the way with all four corners flashing. First thought was that it felt like it starved/ran out of fuel.

I check for obvious fuel leaks in engine compartment, and in the process end up waiting a few minutes. After that, I fire her up and she runs. No problem.

It was a long time ago that I actually recall running out of gas in a vehicle. Maybe even as far back as the days in my 58 beetle (can you say "reserve tank"? Maybe the van simply "ran out" of fuel after taking a corner, and fuel then became accesible once on a level road etc.(Fuel was low, so says guage, but guage iffy) But....

It's one of those disconcerting things. Driving, stalling out, waiting a few, restarting, and it's all good. Filled up with gas, and no problem since, but "hinky" none the less.

A silly question, but has anyone had this happen to them? Did centrufical force take its' toll on a near empty fuel tank? Really don't want to have to trouble shoot for an elusive electrical connection/fuel delivery problem that may not exist.

Please and thanks,

Neil.
