110C is nothing for oil... if you are really worried about it, run Synthetic. I have seen 145C on my TDI before I added an external air cooled oil cooler. That is getting too warm. Now, with most driving it stays around the oil temperature (as I have retained my water cooled "regulator") and when I really rally it, it will go to 105 to 110C. Nothing to worry about at all.

Drove from Los Angles to Las Vegas today, and I'll be darned if it didn't make it just fine! I wonder, though, if I might be better off not knowing my oil temperature. In sunny but mild LA, I never got the thing to read above 200degF/95degC of so, even diving full-bore, 80mph up short but fairly steep grades; But today driving out of Baker, CA in 109 degree heat up that long, long grade I was seeing oil temps a hair over the 220F/105C. Oil pressure was hovering around 20psi though, so no problem there I reckon. The oil temp made me twitchy of course, but only because the only thing I know is that it's "higher than it's ever been before". So long as I'm seeing good oil pressure, is temperature not a big deal? Is there a temperature one should stay under? If all I had was the water temp gauge and oil blinkenlight, I would never have known any of this. I'm I suffering paranoia because I know too much?
