Subject: bent pushrods... overheated...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

folks, someone random asked me to do a head job on their 91 syncro westy (i guess the 4 vw busses in the driveway gave away my secret!). he said he has a bad head gasket, but also bent some pushrods. Uhm... that doesn't sound good. How do you bend a pushrod? Seized rocker arm from overheating and then non-seized cam still pushing up those lifters.... he asked me to just do the heads (and will pay) but am guess that if it got THAT hot, that he has a hosed shortblock (which i happen to have available in my garage for sale for him...). interesting.

what are folks charging for a head job (labor, no parts or machining costs)? how do you warranty this work? big crapshoot here....

thanks matthew
