When my '84 was given to me with a blown engine (back in '91) a head stud had broken and the engine overheated before it "Locked up". After it cooled the PO tried to start it and it would turn over but it "Sounded funny". So ... in exasperation ... he just said I could have it.

I tore it down and found that a valve had bent over ... a push rod was bent and I decided the engine was toast. I just put a different 1.9 in there and didn't try to repair the bad one.
