I know there are two types of foam that were used for the seats. The standard seat foam in european Vanagons is thinner and narrower than the seats used in Multivans/GLs/Carats.

I think your U.S. Vanagons all have the "thicker cushions". And I myself changed these from front to jump seat. The steel bottom of both front and jump seat fit both foam types.

I didnīt use the armrests on my jumpseats yet, because the seats lack the steel thingies were you mount the armrests onto. But I saw jumpseats with armrests in a VW advertising map. So this seems to work with the standard sliding door. See http://vwpix.terlinden.com/prospekte/deutschland/auf_und_ausbauten/Sonstiges/1988_07_Volkswagen_Grossraumtaxi/seite04.jpg for that.

I am going to mount the whole backrest of a front seat onto the jump seat frame.
