Hi everybody. I have not written to the list in recent years because my van has been working fine. No major problems during all these years of happy driving. I'm reading the list emails very often, though, and I'm still learning with you all. I've been on the list for more than 6 years now. Recently, my '84 Vanagon has been having iddle problems, reaching 1100 at times. I'm being told that the throttle valve has worn out the throttle body with the years of use, so it is not closing properly now, making the mixture too rich. 1. Is this correct? Can this explain why the rpms increase only at times? 2. Are there other possible explanations for this? Can the iddle stabilizar be the culprit, for example? 3. Does anybody have a good throttle body to spare? I've seen very expensive option on the web. As some of you know, I'm in Costa Rica and I have not been able to find much needed spare parts. I thank you all for your help. ------------------------------------------------------------- Pablo E.
