On my '85 Westy 4 speed, I installed an Equus 9000-B aftermarket cruise control system. I did it in less than one day with the majority of the time spent lengthening the wires in that add on cruise control systems don't expect the engines to be in the rear.

It's a vacuum type and I added a vacuum reservoir at the time of installation. I have no trouble due to lack of vacuum.

I installed the servo under the driver's side of the van just inboard of the fore and aft frame member ... under the rear seat storage area ... and ran the cable over the transmission and back to the throttle.

It gets its speed sensing from the negative side of the coil (no magnets on the CVs) and performs very well.

The installation will be 2 years old this summer.
