Any input? Ok. A rabbit motor will work just fine with the automatic. Kennedy sells the conversion kits for auto trans at 15 or 50 degrees. In hindsight I would of kept the auto in my van and not converted to manual. One thing- installing EFI would be easier. Only 2 fuel lines to run- feed and return, and those are rubber, much easier to deal with than the braided stainless CIS stuff. The Digifant harness is pretty easy to figure out with a Bentley in hand.

If you have lots of time to kill and want the ultimate in tuneability you can run Megasquirt- I have it in my Rabbit pickup, it's a really awesome setup, just lots to learn. If I had lots of free time and motivation, I would do the rabbit swap with EFI.

Hi Gang...it's been a while, but I'm back...

Sold the diesel project Westie (someone came along with the cash I wanted and caught me in "the mood"...)

So I'm venturing back into the Vanagon arena with a decent 86 Weekender body, engine basket case, and I'm wondering if anyone has ever stuffed a CIS 1.8 in there against the automatic tranny...or do I stick with the 2.1 and chip it up...

I have the diesel oil pan/mounts/pump/manifold etc for the 1.8, but adapting it to the tranny is an issue...

Has anyone done this successfully?

Thanks for any input...
