It is frequent practices that shops think those supports under the tank are suitable for lifting the van with the lift. Of course the tank get damaged. Another possibility is that there is a problem with the tank venting and the fuel pump suction is collapsing the tank. The tube at the bottom of the carbon canister. It is common for the screen in the canister to rust out allowing the fine carbon to fill the tube and clog it. This is the only way air is supposed to enter the tank as the fuel is used. Also, make sure the valve for it, (The black valve near the air filter) is getting the proper vacuum signal. You should hear it click when the throttle is opened.

I was under my '87 the other day it looks like the tank is pushed up on one side. It's not even touching the support strap on the drivers side. Anyone ever pulled this type of dent before?
