Turning the crankshaft does turn the smallest shaft.
But I think it is the transmission driveshaft (I think
Bentley refers to is as the hydraulic driveshaft) and
then there is the pinion driveshaft. I can adjust the
position of the smallest (pump driveshaft) by turning
the crank and adjust the outer largest (pinion) by
turning both drive axle mounts. But can not get to
the middle shaft. I think it is driven by the torque
converter.
This looks like it is matter of 'just keep trying
until it fits'
