Hello, I've been reading the list since last Nov. when I bought my Westy. I've finally come across something I can't find an answer to in the archives. I've dropped the entire drivetrain to do headgaskets and other maintenance. As part of this I have split the Auto tranny from the final drive to replace the o-ring and fiber gaskets. Problem is I can't get the transmission back on. The driveshafts will not mate up ,preventing the tranny from seating all the way. Is there some trick to this? I didn't find anything in the bentley (unless I'm just not seeing them). I did not separate the transimission from the engine. My van is an 88 westy. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks, Dave
