Subject: New camping event in Connecticut
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

All VW bus drivers of all generations (of people and buses) are invited to a great campout in the northwest corner of Connecticut, right on the Housatonic River. I believe we'll have a Type 3 there as well, so come in any vehicle you want to. Hiking, biking, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and lots of other stuff are available in the area and a place to rent equipment if you need it.

Buses by the Bridges (four covered bridges in the area) is aka Small States Campout 2 for those of you who attended the RI venue last year. It will be held at Housatonic Meadows State Park Campground in Sharon, CT from Fri., Aug. 11 to Sun., Aug. 13. The standard pot-luck supper, burrito breakfast, raffle, and a few fun VW-related events TBD will take place.

Reservations must be made through Reserve America www.reserveamerica.com or 877-668-2267. We're trying to get a bunch of river sites in a row (up to site # 24) so you need to reserve fast so we can make this happen. The sites are going to other campers fast. If you don't want to be with the group right on the river, you can choose a site 25 and up. These are just up the hill, some closer to the road, and a little more shade. Doubling up on sites is allowed, so I can tell you if another VW person has a site to share.

Here's a link to the state park. Scroll down their site for a camping map.http://dep.state.ct.us/STATEPARKS/parks/housatonic.htm

Check out a longer description including lots of things to do in the area on www.thesamba.com and go to the events section for August.

E-mail me with any questions and please let me know if you do make a reservation. I want to keep track of how many of us VW folks there will be an at which sites.

Hope to see lots of you there. Feel free to post this info on other sites you frequent where people might be interested.
