A couple months ago I had to park my 86 syncro because a cylinder stud
bolt apparently broke and dumped coolant into the oil and I haven't had
the time or a garage to pull the heads and figure out what broke...(
that will also be the biggest repair this shade tree mech has
attempted..)  So I open the local newspaper the other day and, low and
behold, there is an 87 vanagon gl in there with 29,000 miles on a new
2.1 waterboxer for $2400!


It was a 45 minute drive over and now she sits beside the syncro -same
color and all, and the body is in better shape.


Sometimes the gods smile down on us....
