Yes, that's why I replaced the switch a year ago...turned out the cam was worn to the point where proper adjustment wasn't possible. Be sure you get the cam when you buy the switch...at the time I bought it, van-cafe was bundling them for the same price that others charged for just the switch. That could have changed, so best to shop around.

Two tips that worked for me...to get the proper gap, I adjusted the eccentric screw with a .004" feeler gage in place on the idle stop screw until I heard the click and my multimeter showed a change from closed to open. When I tightened the lock screw, the gap was 0.003", so don't be surprised if tightening affects the gap. Also, once you have it set, go back and check it periodically to make sure the gap holds...that was my downfall.

Since you have to (at least it makes it much easier) take off the throttle body to install the new switch, take the time to clean the innards with carb cleaner, and inspect the throttle plate and pivot shaft for looseness as these can affect the operation of the switch. I know you said you already cleaned it, but I included that to present a complete procedure for the archives.

Good luck!
