Subject: 3rd row seat yearly differences?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

I'm trying to do research on if i can install an older 3rd row seat into my 91 syncro. I'd like to switch over to the old tan seats, and use the 3rd row seat with the arm rests. I've heard that the later year vanagons have a narrower seat due to molded side panels.

I know this makes it difficult for some newer seats to fit into older vanagons (you need to make the posts longer). I'm guessing the opposite is true, but I'd like to double check.

So my question is, which year 3rd row seats can be transplanted

is it another one of those <>86 issues?
