I had this same problem (only in the rear though) and for the longest time, even after replacing the rear hatch seal I couldn't figure it out. Until one day I notice the water trail was coming from where the curtain strap on the passenger rear side contacted and bulged against the bulb seal portion of the rear hatch seal, creating an open spot for moisture to seep through. I have never used it to draw & tie my curtains back so I removed the strap. Hasn't leaked onto the rear pad since.
