Can't say for certain about the back, but I do know that the seal around th= e front windshield is notorious for exactly that sort of leak. I wouldn't be surprised to hear an older rear window seal was doing the same thing. I finally got my windshield to quit leaking by filling in the space under the outer outside lip of the seal with 3M Heavy Drip-Chek sealant <* http://tinyurl.com/gtl3h*>. The stuff stinks like model glue and sticks lik= e liquid chewing gum, but once it cures, ain't nuthin' getting through.

John,

Does the 3M Heavy Drip-Chek clean up OK off paint work around the rubber seal once a bit squeezes out? I have to do a similar job and am still considering which sealant I am prepared to use.

My windscreen never leaked at all with the first two windscreens and the original rubber for 12 good years. Then two years ago when the van was going to be part of a show for 50 years of VW in Australia I decided that now was a good time to replace the windscreen once again due to a number of chips and a small crack and thought that now was also a appropriate time to also replace the rubber. I bought a (supposedly) good German one too at additional cost but the bugger now occasionally leaks much to my annoyance.

Funny part is, it rarely leaks in heavy rain....more often in drizzle... I haven't quite figured that one out yet...
