Jake,

Today I received a very large box (2 cubic meters) plus similar size box but only a few inches thick. They contained various parts I've been buying off German Ebay this past year. Thanks to Helmut Z. for all the packing and receiving the parts at his home. The only ugly part of buying out of the US is shipping. Well, to be more correct, the pitfalls of shipping. the company which handled the package added nearly $500 in brokerage and handling fees nearly doubling the cost of shipping. My point is these parts we see on Ebay (and other places) for sale seem like such a fabulous bargains. We need to factor in the cost of shipping which can triple the price of the item.

That aside, it was like Christmas at my house yesterday. The giant box had aluminum Tristar gates, a cab-height canopy, factory moonroof, treasure chest door, and mountains of bubble wrap. The second box had a Swedish headache rack for the back of the Doka. Total cost of all the parts was about $900. Cost to get them here with all the junk fees -- about $1100. Will I do it again? Sure. I now know that the brokerage fees would not have applied had I sent the parts in via a different division of the same carrier. Live and learn.

BenT
