Subject: New owners - treat canvas of poptop?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Hi,

We just purchased a 91 Westfalia camper. I've been following the email list for a week or so and amazed at the resource that this list provides.

The canvas on our poptop is in great condition, and we want to keep it that way. Should we be treating it with anything, or is it the old "waterproof cotton" theory, where when it gets wet, the threads swell up and become water tight. I was amazed when I saw cotton tents in England in my youth.

Regardless, is there a treatment that should be applied?

Thanks, Steve Williams 91 Westfalia
