As to the imaginative cops ... would you believe, back in the '50s ... I actually got a ticket for wearing a seatbelt?

The ticket was for using competition equipment on a public highway. You see, seatbelts weren't installed on any cars then and I used an aircraft harness in my '50 Ford.

Full circle comes to mind.
