I use a bucket as well. And not just for grey water. It's good for carrying water to put out fires. Maybe other uses too?

Being somewhat lazy, I drive my "load" to dump when leaving. Given the potential spillage, thought a used paint pail might fit under van. It would have lid and large hole to fit under drain.

I like the PCV/ABS idea. I would use ABS. Don't know if volume would end up being less than pail/collapsible container, but if area underneath is more square than long, maybe 2 tubes joined with "U" would make sense. Installing drain at "U" with slope built into unit for proper drainage might be smart. Of course I haven't actually measured under van yet, so these are hypothetical thoughts...... and along those lines, just thinking of wheight when full....lots of strapping needed??
