The base that bolts down seemed a little flimsier than the one on the OEM mirrors, but it it also felt like it might stick a little better and not have as much of a tendency to "flip in". Or maybe it just felt "sticker" because they were new. I think that any mirror patterned after the VW factory original is going to turn into a flipper eventually though, based on the design alone.
