RHD (SA, UK, or Aussie) vans have the fuel filler on he same side as LHD vans. That let VW use the same fuel tank and filler tube for all 2WD T3's. I've seen a secondary fill port there in pics of Bernd Jäger's high roof Syncro: <http://www.syncro-bernd-jaeger.de/DEUTSCH/Campingbus/campingbus.html> I suspect it's plumbed into an aux fuel tank like the ones he sells: <http://www.syncro-bernd-jaeger.de/DEUTSCH/Spezialitaten/spezialitaten.html>
