I can attest to that !

On my 81 I sold a couple yrs back that thing ran all the time in the AZ summer (9 months a yr). So I replaced the fan and put in a switch.

Technically correct. However, separately the fan in the back of the fridge will run if the ambient temperatures are high enough (regardless of whether the fridge is on or not.) If you have the stock fan, it will be VERY noticable.

The metal fins inside the fridge should be cold to the touch. It takes a long time to get very cold and the fridge DOES NOT make any noise when it is running. It does NOT hum, buzz, click, or anything.
