I don't usually recommend the use of Vise Grips for anything except rounding off bolt heads, but in this case they worked well for me. The switch shouldn't be in very tightly. Also, if you're buying Vise Grips, buy the brand name ones, not the knockoffs. One example of getting what you pay for - on the brand name ones, there's no side to side play, the jaws match up, the teeth are sharp, and you can abuse the crap outta them without them breaking.
