How high should the idle be on an '86 with rear cabinet installed A/C idle when the A/C is on? Mine has always idled very high. I don't have a tach, but it is probably over 2000. I have recenlty repaired or replaced the TB switch, temp sensor 2, injectors, vacuum lines, and cleaned grounds. It seems to run beautifully most all of the time. I used to have an intermittent situation where the idle would surge when the engine and ambient temp were hot. I have not experienced this since fixing some vacuum lines. It was intermitent, so it could come back, but it has been gone for quite a while. I assume that the high idle with the A/C is controlled by the Idle bypass valve on top the motor. It hums when the key is on. Is there a voltage that is sent to it that I can check when the A/C is engaged? Is there by chance a vacuum advance on the distributor? I did not notice any lines going to it. Maybe it's nothing to worry about since the van is running so nice in general. |
