Although VW does not superseded the 83.5-84 to the 85 I see no reason why
they would not be interchangeable.  Some rather minor parts are different
(internally), but they're essentially the same beast.  The 03 010 and 03 212
distributor caps are swappable depending on the ignition wires being used.
