Subject: Intermittent engine miss
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Vannuts,

Driving back from a camping trip my new syncro ran well for 180 miles. 90 degree heat, AC running and going about 65-70 down I 5 in California.

As I was getting off the freeway for gas it suddenly started missing. Idle about 500 rpm, very difficult to get the revs up in any gear.

Stopped for fuel [a bargain $2.99.9 a gallon] opened the engine cover to let it cool. Checked all the plug leads and looked for loose wires, etc.

Filled up and it started right up and ran fine...until I tried to get back on the freeway. Same deal, missing heavily and would only hold about 45-50 mph on level ground. Same in all gears, if anything worse in lower gears. Then it would catch and run smoothly for from 1 to about 30 seconds. Then the miss came back.

Got home. Used 1/2 tank gas to go 49 miles.

Any ideas?

TIA

Mike
