Good luck.  I live in SD and I very rarely see another vanagon.  Most people out here camp with the extra large fifth wheel camping trailers.  A lot of people stare in amazement at our Vanagon though.  We'll be out in the Black Hills in 2 weeks with our Westy.  I'll let keep my eyes open for rental places.  I know of a few places that rent pop-up type tent trailers. but Westy's are a rare sight.
