I was in my local Home Depot last week, searching for some copper pipe bits to make a bypass for my leaky rear heater. They have a new (to me at least) product, pre tinned fittings. ( 90 elbows, 45 elbow, T fittings ) in 1/2" and 3/4" . The interesting bit is, to hold the tinning solder, each end of the fitting has a raised rib (outside circumference) that works very well in terms of keeping a hose & clamp from slipping.

Have a look. You might be able to rig something up using a T fitting.

Has anyone had to replace this part? Any ideas on the part #? > Anybody got the piece lying around? > > Thanks.
