Extremely! The bolt heads will wear into the soft metal of the boot flanges and the bolts will come loose. You will not notice until the bolts snap but at that point, the threaded holes in the flanges will be damaged. BTW, the bolts should be grade 12.9 and torqued to 32 ft/lbs.

Hey

Just regreased and rebooted all 4 of my rear CV joints. Empited out my solvent tank and found the little two hole washer things that were originally on bolts holding the outer CV's and boots in place.

So.... How important are they anyway? And what will happen if I don't take it apart to put them on?
