Walter,

I can't say what you are finding or not. However, I can tell you this much having just done this day before yesterday, the top bolt is a round head with a hex depression enaged by a nut on the opposite end past the bellhousing. If neithe of these is there, then it probably fell out rather than disintegrated. It is not a tiny bolt so it cannot simply be missed.

Are you saying you have already taken the old starter out and there was no bolt there? Or are you trying to take the old starter bolt and cannot get your Allen wrench to fit in to the bolt head?
