Some comments on tools. Someone mentioned the typical problem of a nut and bolt the same size on both sides. You need two of whatever you have one of. Many years ago (and maybe still, I haven't looked) I picked up a set of overlapping box/open end wrenches. example would be one end 1/2", the other 9/16". The next wrench down would be 1/2" one end, 3/8" the other and so on. I think that I put together a set of four or five like that. Still have them buried somewhere, all SAE stuff in storage. I think I'll look for a similar set in metric: 10/11, 11/12, 12/13 etc. Second point, and this is a question regarding the lovely plastic boxes all these neat new tool sets come in. I have all the tools, can anyone tell me where I can buy one of the nice boxes with all the little slots in it? I've looked to no avail. BTW, in my Westy I carry my tools in a tool roll from Duluth Trading, in fact have two such rolls. Works very well, very rugged and quite compact for storage but opens up and displays everything in the manner you stored them. Even has a pocket for sockets. |
