Hello Folks, I managed to cut some front wheel arches to be used to replace my badly damaged existing arches. After that long struggle today with the Sawzall. I was rewarded with nice replacements. Trouble is I can't tell how they are attached to the bodywork. It almost looks as if they are glued on. Before I spend another afternoon peeling paint to look for spot welds, I thought about asking some of you who may have dealt with this before. I know now is they are welded at the rear corners the doorjamb. I know how to cut those out to free them up. The bottom is thick with undercoating. As soon as I locate where I stored my heatgun, I am going to try to peel all this stuff off. I hoped to learn how to remove them properly on my parts vans. I don't want to butcher my Doka to so careful removal is critical. My plan is to cut out the existing arches towards the body. Then I was going to ground away any remaining material. That way the bodywork does not get damaged. Arches are being removed so I can thrash those parts. The opposite is true with the parts from the donor van. I cut the bodywork to keep the arches intact. Then will be grinding the remaining bodywork off from the arches. Thoughts? TIA, -- BenT |
