Kerosene and/or mineral spirits. Dirty solvent disposed of in the waste oil recycling center in my home area of Warren, MI.

What are you guys using in your parts washers or use when cleaning all the grease off engine parts, CV joints etc?

Just found out that my SF Bay Area clean air board is at it again earning their pay by out lawing all the good cleaning solvents I have been able to purchase locally in bulk over the past 30 years for using in my parts washer.

I have always been able to buy standard safety solvent which does a good job of degreasing parts as well as has a very low possibility of catching fire.

I also just purchased a new parts washer from Harbor Freight only to read on its stickers everywhere that you cant use any type of non-water based cleaning fluids in it.

Anybody found a good water based degreaser that will work anything close to what standard cleaning solvent will do to dirty CV joints. I would love to see and try it out ???

Are you guys outside of the ECO-FREAK SF bay area still able to buy standard cleaning solvents? Perhaps I need to make a run to NV and buy a drum.

Thanks,

Doug
