I took the top off a junkyard westy with just one other person.  For
replacing the canvas, I also think it is worthwhile to take the top off and
lay on the ground to attach the top to the canvas then put it back and
attach the bottom seam to the van.  (Really check whether it is upside down
or inside out--it's easy to get it wrong the first time).  I know other
people recommend different things, but taking the top off is 6 bolts at the
rear and 2 push pins at the front and saves a lot of sweat.
