No its not like a tire thread as 99% of the westy owners most likly pop
their roofs and use them as they were designed, thus the idea would not
work.
Well this is a judgment call but it seams silly to me to have a pop top and
not use it. Where is that you are at you cannot even get away with the pop
top up?
Obviously you understand A/C units need to be level thus using this under
pop-up conditions is a no go. I simply bought a 5500BTU LG home window unit.
IT can be easily modifed to hang in your window or put on top of the cargo
hold. I"ve seen people that sell nicely sewed canvas attachments for both
options. Most can do it themselves very easily. I like the cargo roof mount
best. Take a piece of canvas sew in a matching zipper to attach to your top,
tuck the rest for bug free living and do it all for aunder $100.
We have the small honda unit and put it on the rear receive hitch extended
shelf unit that is so popular. It stays there most of the trip. If I'm in a
high crime area for dinner or such we can simply move it inside since its
such a light unit.
