Subject: 12V Cigarette Lighter Euro Adaptor?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Anyone know of a source for a shim to adapt standard cigarette-lighter power connectors to that wonky VW European-sized cigarette lighter receptacle? Everything I plug in there rattles around and soon falls out.

Several years ago I had a Uniden radar detector which included a nice little plastic sleeve which slipped over the plug and made for a snug fit in my Scirocco's cigarette lighter. My 48HP diesel Westy, of course, has little need for a radar detector, but I'd like to power an MP3 player and some other stuff. Instead of the multiple layers of masking tape I currently employ on most plugs, where can I find a similar adaptor?

I'd consider simply replacing the socket itself with a good ol' red-blooded Detroit-style unit from Radio Shack, but the archives suggest such an undertaking is beyond the ability of even a nimble-fingered neurosurgeon ...
