As a wisque or whisk broom proponent, & as the owner of a Great Pyrenees dog(only 110 lbs) who loves road trips in the westy, I have never had to spend a whole hour vacuuming or sweeping the westy out, even after Burning Man! My god Larry, what kind of a dog do you have?
