Subject: Need Seat Belt Extenders ...

We just purchased two new dog crates for our miniature dachshunds. These crates are designed to be secured in place on a vehicle seat using the vehicles seat belts. In our case we wanted to locate and secure the crates on the back seat of our 1980 West Canadian. The rear belts as most of you will know are only the lap belt variety. Unfortunately the belts are just a "schooch" too short to secure the crates. So we went looking for a couple of seat belt extenders. They are a very difficult item to locate locally. We did locate some at our local VW dealer but the connectors were incompatible with the stock ones in our van. We even approached a couple of auto upholstery shops to see if they would stitch up a pair if we provided the hardware but were turned down as they cited liability issues if the extenders failed in a crash ... also two 'seat belt' web sellers said that they couldn't guarantee that their extenders would fit out belts ...

... and so we turn to the list to help us locate extenders for my '80 rear seat lap belts ... all suggestions welcome except for selling the dogs and using kitchen twine or duct tap for the purpose ;>

peace
