I'd agree with everything Sam says especially for your trouble shooting but I recommend to anyone new tune ups stuff on a regular basis. All my cars get new caps/rotor/plugs regularly (about annually) and new wires every two years. The new wires make a hell of a difference regardless of how they "test" out and the difference of new plugs and regapped plugs on my Saab turbos is very noticably with NKG resister plugs, so I do the same for mileage sake with my westy.
