write a better filter set.

don't expect 100% accuracy - how stressful can it be if you have 99% accuracy

I filter four lists into a vanagon folder, three others into a VW camping folder, five others into a Syncro folder, two into a Subaruvanagon folder, and 4 into a Mercedes and diesel folder. There are a few more about cars and many other folders to hold quite a number of other lists related to other subjects in which I am interested.

Sometimes, something ends up in the wrong folder, but I handle it.

When I see an email from the vanagon list in my vanagon folder, I see several pieces of info above, like who it is from, who sent it, who the reply will go to, etc. The item "To:" is followed by "vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM" So, I filter emails that have the character sequence "GERRY.VANAGON" in the "To:" item to go into my Vanagon folder, though it is in local folders, not the inbox. I use Mozilla Thunderbird for my email. Did the same with Netscape 7.2 email before that.

The list is 11 years old. Thirty years ago, the first PC's had just been out a year or so. A modem was a wild thing to have in a computer, and Gerry was not around.

Sometimes I reply with pmail, sometimes to the list and sometimes (usually) to both. Same with the yahoogroups lists. I can handle the not so complicated fact that they work different ways. I am on some other lists that aren't yahoogroups lists and some are different from either Gerry or yahoo. Not a big deal, just have to think a little bit.

I remember what computers were like 30 and 35 years ago and am so grateful for what we have now that a few imperfections or situations that are not exactly identical to one another don't particularly bother me.

Yahoo groups have terrible search capabilities if you use their interface. Gerry's search functions, though oft criticized, mainly by people unfamiliar with free form database searching, are far better than almost all of the lists I am on. Of course, the vast majority of them are Yahoo based.
