I've only replaced the head and waterjacket gaskets on 3 wasserboxers but when doing all three, the cylinders would rotate and I didn't replace the lower 0-rings except on one cylinder that I had to completely remove. I experienced no leaks at the lower 0-rings. Others have said that you can stretch the new 0-rings over the cylinders but I didn't go that route. you can pull the cylinders out quite a ways ... as long as the piston is out far enough that the piston rings don't come out of the cylinders. That's what determines your limit. Mike Houlton, Maine '84 GL 7 pass '85 GL Westy
