Rob, The correct choice for you depends on a number of variables. What engine, tire size, and vehicle you drive, as well as the topography in your area should be considered. Our van is an `87 Westy Syncro running a stock 2.1L and 185R14 Nokians, when Daryl at AATransaxle built our transmission we discussed all of these items and opted for swapping both 3rd and 4th gears and I love it. If I were running larger tires I would not have chosen this route as it is mountainous here and larger tires coupled with a higher gear set would have made our van too slow(lol) in the Passes. With the higher gears we have reduced our cruising rpm's down to about 3500 from 4000.
