Once a millenium ago I put a trans into my own Jetta on the garage floor and
tweaked the disc hub off center...Its called "hanging the trans" as its
being installed..letting it droop and bend the disc a bit...Took 30K miles
to get all better. Its possible in the vanagon too...
Other than that, I would double check the hydraulics. The ball on the lever
will not cause the problem. The slave has plenty of travel to compensate for
wear of the whole system if its working properly...Daryl of AA Trans
