That's what I did on my 86 with auto trans. This is not an audiovox CC, but another universal one made by Dana. I happened to have that bracket laying around, but a bit of angle bracket would do nicely. I used a long bolt and put it through an unused hole in the bell housing. I'm not sure what sorts of adapters etc that the audiovox kit comes with, but this seems like a nice clean set up to me.
