Had the misfortune of a breakdown last week in mighty Burlington, Wisconsin. Stopped to get direction around some major road construction and Zeffi the 91 Westie was dead in the water... Had electric, but no turn, no click, nothing... Tried the bang on the starter/celenoid and still nothing. Called Mercedes & Thomas from the Vanagon Rescue Squad and got a referal to a fantastic shop right there in town- Burlington Imports. Jerry there was fantastic and he got parts and had me on the road by that afternoon. Does a rebuilt Bosch starter really retail for $300. I paid half that and it still seems like a a lot. Forget it, I don't wanna know! Spent the rest of the week relaxing with my dogs on Lake Michigan and it was fabulous!
