Subject: Trapped bees (buzzing doors)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hi Folks,

I've been offline for a few weeks courtesy of my broadband (non) supplier, so apologies if my contibutions are antiquated.

Someone complained of the buzzing of angry bees in a door. I had the same problem and spent ages trying to resolve it, but it was quite simple. I think the noise was hard to track down because of the acoustics of the door. Sometimes it seemed to come out of the heater or fresh air ducts and sometimes it could be silenced by my better half's foot against the door panel.

The PO had fitted large speakers in the doors and had cut a hole in the waterproof membrane to allow them the magnet to fit. He hadn't covered up the hole and the cut edges of the plastic would vibrate at anything over 40mph. It also exposed the rear of the speaker to water damage.

The proper solution is to make a polyethelene bag to cover the rear of the speaker and keep it dry. The temporary solution is to wrap the loose plastic with duct tape to keep it quiet. I'll let you guess which fix I chose.

Regards,

Niall
