Don't know anyone who changed it regularly. Remove bottom hose and check lower screen for rust or at least make sure none of the carbon is falling out. When the carbon falls out, it will quickly clog that air inlet tube on the bottom causing all sorts of fuel delivery problems at high speed or long trips. On 2WD, the fuel pump suction with a clogged inlet tube will easily collapse the tank making it look like it was lifted with a jack. Especially the aftermarket tanks. Dennis
I've kept mine alive and 'apparently' working for 14 years now but removing it every few years and giving it a good shake to ensure the carbon is not turning to a solid lump or blocking anything up. I began this maintained about 8 years ago after first getting the fuel tank "woomph" due to the first stages of problems as Dennis refers to above. Only takes a few minutes...easiest to do while the wheel is off (but not essential) and it ensures no escalation of problems at a inevitably less desirable time and/or location.
