Even I cringed reading this news. Could happen to any of us at anytime. I once had the oil sender hole strip on a 1.9. Never did get a good helicoil installed.Took lots of looking to find a 10mm 1.0 thread pitch coil. Still, the fragments were all over the place,and maybe inside. too.Good fragnment removel is vital! Go in a tad with the tap,than retreat and vaccum.Then go again a tad and vaccum. Put oil on the tap that you use so the fragments will stick to it, instead of dropping inside the engine. I used a brass pipe driven in, and then jb weld placed around it. Screwed the sender into that. Worked good. |
